Costa Berries FNQ is currently seeking Harvest Project Supervisors to join our growing berry operation on the Atherton Tablelands. We export to some of the most demanding markets in the world, so food safety is paramount.  In all that we grow, we are committed to sustainable production and growing.People are at the heart of the Costa business and across our regions we are a major employer with more than 6,000 workers during our peak seasons.About the Role The Project Supervisor role is a casual, seasonal position with potential for ongoing employment for the right candidates, subject to role availability. This role requires you to take a leading role in managing a crew of blueberry pickers to ensure daily harvesting is completed to the required standards. You are required to attend all FNQ sites as outlined by the picking schedule. Open and clear communication is required with the Field Harvest Coordinator/Field Harvest Manager to ensure all harvest requirements, quality assurance and people concerns are being managed, efficiencies maximised and KPI’s met.You may be required to fulfil other roles in support of whole farm management. Costa invites applicants from farming backgrounds, as well as other industries with transferable skills sets.Responsibilities include:Monitor chariot and picker hygiene levels to ensure they meet requirements set out by the Quality Assurance Supervisor, and action improvements if needed.Monitor the health and hygiene facilities, for example drinking water, cups, hand wash, toilets, etc, and liaise with the Field Harvest Manager and Truck Drivers if anything needs replacing.Monitor chariot stock levels and liaise with the Field Harvest Coordinator and Truck Drivers if stock needs replenishingMonitor pickers to ensure they are following instructions and are picking to the required standard.Create a culture of support within the crew, acknowledging success, driving performance and showing appreciation for hard work.On a daily basis, identify crew members that are under performing and provide coaching for performance improvement. Ongoing performance issues to be communicated with the Field Harvest Manager; feedback tickets to be completed on a fortnightly basisLead by example – show a consistent work ethic, respect, enthusiasm for the task, and support for all crew members.Complete harvest paperwork as directed by the Field Harvest CoordinatorTraining and coachingEnsure that all new pickers are appropriately trained and monitored, and have the required skills and knowledge to perform their roleEnsure all data is correctly entered into the HMS (Harvest Management System), troubleshooting problems when needed and liaising with the Field Harvest Manager regarding HMS issuesOther reasonable duties, as directedAbout You To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated experience in a similar role as well as:Be self-motivated and enjoy working as part of a teamHave excellent communication skillsExcellent verbal and written communicationOrganised and able to meet deadlinesStaff management skillsPerformance management of staffWorking in a semi-autonomous role (limited supervision) managing groups of peopleAbility to undertake strenuous work activities for extended periods of time, under adverse weather conditionsExcellent time management skillsDrivers Licence and own transportPlease note only short-listed applicants will be contacted.
